    Creating an Equity Lens helps organizations develop a critical framework for making equitable decisions and policies. Participants will explore the fundamentals of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ), gain a brief understanding of the equity literacy framework, and examine key components of an effective equity lens. Through reviewing existing equity lenses and guided exercises, attendees will learn how to build their own customized equity lens to apply to policies, practices, and decision-making processes within their organization.

Participants will explore the concept of call-in culture, which encourages growth and learning over shame or punishment, and differentiate it from call-out culture. This training covers the development of effective accountability systems at both the cultural and work levels, and the balance between performance improvement and restorative justice. Attendees will learn about various levels of intervention, establish accountability policies, and create processes that support ongoing development and repair in the workplace.

  • Human-Centered HR

    Human-Centered HR reimagines traditional HR practices to create systems that prioritize people while remaining legally sound. This training explores the role of HR beyond compliance, examining how to shift from coercive to enabling bureaucracies that support equity and well-being. Participants will dive into key areas such as compensation, benefits, PTO and leave policies, accessibility, and discrimination, with a focus on creating fair and inclusive workplaces. The session also covers accountability structures, wrongful termination, and strategies for fostering a workplace culture where HR serves as a tool for support rather than enforcement.

  • Alternative Management Structures

    Alternative Management Structures explores different leadership and decision-making models that move beyond traditional hierarchies to create more equitable and collaborative workplaces. Participants will examine various approaches, including flattened hierarchies, co-director and leadership team models, non-hierarchical circle structures, and consensus-based decision-making. This training also delves into the role of unionization in workplace equity and how organizations can implement alternative management structures that align with their values while maintaining efficiency and accountability. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of how leadership can be reimagined to foster shared power and collective decision-making.

  • DEIJ in Fundraising

    DEIJ in Fundraising challenges traditional fundraising models by centering equity, justice, and community-driven giving. This training explores the origins of philanthropy in communities of color, the historical context of nonprofits, and how systemic inequities shape fundraising today. Participants will define what DEIJ looks like in fundraising, examine the principles of Community-Centric Fundraising, and apply an equity lens to donor engagement, storytelling, and resource distribution. This session provides actionable strategies for shifting fundraising practices to be more inclusive, ethical, and aligned with justice-driven values.

  • DEIJ in Grantwriting

    DEIJ in Grantwriting equips organizations with the tools to approach grants through an equity-focused lens, ensuring that funding practices align with community values and justice-driven principles. Participants will explore how to incorporate equity into data collection and reporting, apply an equity lens to grant language, and strategically select grants that support—not compromise—their mission. This training also covers ways to hold funders accountable to the communities they serve, shifting grantwriting from a transactional process to a tool for systemic change and long-term impact.
